Brother Mike, the most incredibly awesome thing happened to me today. As I have been studying the Experiencing God book, I have started to hear a theme, get ready to serve, and be a bold witness for the Lord when the moment comes. Last night, as I prayed, I specifically prayed that God would take away my fears and to make me a bold witness. Well, today He presented a moment and then He came through.
I work with a muslin believer and I have been afraid to broach the subject of my faith with him. Today, God broached it for me and threw me in. As I was talking to Saed (my muslin co-worker), I asked him about Ramadan as he is fasting for it. He was telling me about it, and it seemed strange to me. Then Saed asked me what I believed and the doors opened. I told him boldly that I am a Christian and I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God; that he came to the earth, lived a perfect life and then was killed to pay for my sins so that I would be able to share heaven with the father one day. He asked me how I knew that and we talked for a long while. The whole time I prayed silently for God to speak his words through me. Saed proceeded to say that he does not believe that Jesus is the son of God, but that he was a prophet, like all the other prophets. He also said that Jesus never said that he was the son of God; I told him that he was wrong and that Jesus revealed himself to his disciples on numerous occasions, and then John 14:6 came to me and I told him that Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me". Why would he say that if he wasn't God's son. I promised him I would find other passages where Jesus revealed his nature and share them with him. I know that Saed was not even closed to being convinced, but I think the door is open now for future conversations.
The one thing he said that I couldn't speak to as I have never heard this mentioned, and definitely have not read it yet in my studies of the Bible is that the name of Mohamed is mentioned in the Bible as a prophet that was going to come after Jesus. Is there really this reference in the Bible?
