Is it appropriate to take the Lord's Supper while one is fasting?

Good question. Since the Bible has no rules for fasting, and since each fast a person does is a personal matter between that person and God, I would say that it is a matter of individual conscience. If you are fasting, and you have the opportunity to take the Lord's Supper, pray about it, and do whatever you think the Lord would have you do. Also for consideration, fasting involves discipline and self-denial, and it is not a matter of legalism (it shouldn't be anyway). Practically, you are certainly not going to satisfy your appetite by eating the small piece of unleavened bread. Therefore, again, what is the purpose of the fast, and what do you think the Lord would have you do? The wonderful thing about living in the grace of the Gospel is that we are not bound by rules and regulations. Enjoy the freedom to fast however you are led in your relationship with Jesus.
