Perhaps you've been following with interest the recent discussions about Mormonism relative to Mitt Romney's presidential candidacy. Perhaps you've read that Mike Huckabee asked whether Mormons believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers. And perhaps you've heard the politically correct media repeat the politically correct spin of the Mormon church, which has only led to obscure what is really a crystal clear issue. Well, while I am prohibited by law from either promoting or denouncing particular candidates in my official position, I am not prohibited from speaking to issues of a moral, ethical, or theological matter. Therefore, I don't hesitate to enter the discussion about what Mormons believe, since that is the issue at hand. You will have to decide if Romney is your guy or not, but I want to address Huckabee's question: "Don't Mormons believe the Devil and Jesus are brothers?" The answer, no matter how it is spun or denied, is YES, and Mormon doctrine is undeniably clear on the matter. What they believe is not in any way what the Bible teaches or what Christians have historically believed and affirmed, regardless of what they say. However, instead of spelling it all out myself, let me point you to two recent posts by James White on the issue. James is a well-accomplished and highly published authority on Mormonism, and he has addressed this issue quite succinctly in the following two links: aomin.org/index.php?itemid=2403aomin.org/index.php?itemid=2405

Well, interestingly enough, Fox News posed 21 questions to the Mormon church. Not only did they lie in some of their replies, and not only did they spin some of their replies, but they refused to answer some of the questions. Amazing. That tells you something right there. Any religion that refuses to answer questions (even under the pretense of rejecting the question as beneath them) has something to hide.
I get questions all the time, and I know that the answers are not what people want to hear. But truth is truth, and we need not be ashamed of what we believe. Brothers and sisters, we have nothing to hide.

James White has begun chiming in on the 21 questions posed to the Mormon church by Fox News. You can see his first installment here: aomin.org/index.php?itemid=2411
