Every time I try to whittle out that which distracts me from God I hit a roadblock. It's very complicated but God had sent me a message once to not move until He told me too. Then He got quiet, but every time I try to manuever myself to a simpler lifestyle, roadblock. So I pray but no answer. Is is still God or the devil making sure I stay distracted. Any books that might help?

Dear confused, I hate to tell you, but I'm a bit confused myself. Let me try to clarify to see if I'm understanding what you're saying. It seems like you're trying to find direction through praying to God, but something always happens that derails what you think is the right thing to do. If that's the case, let me answer with some generalities, and if you want to get more specific, you can ask some follow-up questions.
First, when seeking God's will, never (and I mean never) trust simple impressions or feelings. It is important to pray and ask for guidance, but as we pray, we also need to talk to godly people. We need to ask them to pray for us, and we need to seek their godly counsel. When I'm making significant decisions, there are a few people that I will talk to in order to get their input on the direction I'm thinking of going.
More than anything, though, is to read the Bible daily. We must test our feelings and impressions against what Scripture says. God will never lead us to do anything that contradicts His written word. You asked for a book recommendation. The Bible is the primary book to read. If I knew exactly what your situation is, I could recommend certain parts of the Bible and perhaps some other books. However, if you are seeking God, receiving godly counsel, and reading your Bible consistently, I would simply say you need to continue doing the last thing God clearly led you to do until He tells you otherwise. He won't play games with you. He just wants you to walk with Him closely, trusting Him every step of the way.
