Pastor Mike,
What does it mean to be a spritual leader of a family? How is that done? Where does the bible discuss this?
How can a single person prepare for this life?

Ok, brother. I love you, but you have asked a question far too broad for this discussion board. While the short answer is that to be the spiritual leader of a family means that a man has to walk closely with Jesus, study His Word, pray for His family, set the example, and help them grow in Christ, the truth is that the ways those things are fleshed out are too numerous to mention. There are lots of books out there, but instead of recommending one or more, I think the best course of action is to be plugged into a Gospel-centered, biblically orthodox church. Then draw close to some men (or even one) who are living out spiritual leadership in their families. Watch them. Spend time with them. Ask them questions. Observe what they do right and what they do wrong and what they do when they do something wrong. And stay in the Word. Ephesians 5 & 6 and Colossians 3:18-25 have some specific instructions for husbands, wives, and children. There is also much in Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon related to marriage, parenting, and finances. However, all of Scripture shapes a man for his calling as a spiritual leader in the home.
So stay in church. Don't just hang with single people. Watch, listen, and learn. Stay in the Word. Walk with Jesus. And pray. Pray until it feels like you will weary God. For the most important thing I can tell you is that you must depend on Him, or everything else will be in vain.
